Shadow Me: Opinions on City Life and Technology
These eight lines give strong, natural opinions about city life and technology. Shadow them to practice the confident rhythm of an English speaker stating a view. · B2 · Shadowing

How to practice: play a line, pause it in your head, and repeat it out loud at the same speed and rhythm — like a shadow. Line by line first, then the whole set without stopping.
1. Honestly, I can’t imagine living anywhere but the city.
2. There’s always something going on, and I love that energy.
3. That said, the noise can really get on my nerves sometimes.
4. Technology has made our lives easier, there’s no doubt about it.
5. On the other hand, we spend way too much time staring at screens.
6. Personally, I think remote work is here to stay.
7. Of course, it depends on the kind of job you have.
8. At the end of the day, balance is what really matters.

Your task
Shadow each line until you can say it in one breath without reading. Then record yourself giving the opposite opinion for two lines — for example, why you prefer a small town over the city.
Coach tips
- Opinion openers carry the stress: “HONestly,” “PERsonally,” “That SAID.” Hit them a little harder.
- Contrast phrases link ideas: “on the other hand” glues the two halves of an argument.
- Let your pitch fall at the end of a strong opinion — a falling tone sounds sure of itself.
