Interview Practice: About Yourself
Six classic interview questions about you — your background, your strengths, and your English. Read each question aloud first; understanding the question fast is half the skill. · B1 · Interview

How to practice: answer each question out loud in 30–45 seconds. Record one full round and listen for one thing to improve — not ten.

Q: Why are you learning English?
Q: What do you do for a living?
Q: What are you good at?

Your task
Answer each question aloud in 30 to 45 seconds, and record yourself. Model answers follow a simple recipe: answer directly, add one detail, finish with a reason or example — for “Why are you learning English?” try: “I’m learning English because I want to work with international clients. Right now I’m studying online, and I practice speaking a few times a week. My goal is to hold a full business conversation by the end of the year.” Listen back, pick the two weakest answers, and record them again.
Coach tips
- Buy thinking time naturally: “That’s a good question…” gives you two free seconds.
- Answer in chunks of one idea each — short sentences beat one long, tangled sentence.
- End every answer cleanly. Dropping your pitch at the end signals “I’m done.”
