Making Plans: A Saturday with Friends

Making plans is 10% grammar and 90% dance: suggest, react, check the weather, keep a backup. Emma and Ryan build a Saturday — notice 'How about…?', 'Sounds good', and the graceful rain check. · A2 · Role-Play

How to practice: first listen to the whole dialogue. Then play BOTH roles out loud — or take one role and answer the other from memory. When it flows, record the full dialogue below.

Emma Hey Ryan, are you doing anything on Saturday?

Ryan Not really. Why, what's up?

Emma A few of us are thinking of going to the farmers market in the morning, then maybe a picnic. Wanna come?

Ryan Sounds fun. What time are you meeting?

Emma Around ten, at the park entrance. Oh — but check the weather first, I heard it might rain.

Ryan Hmm, if it rains, what's plan B?

Emma Good thinking. If the weather's bad, we'll do the museum instead and grab lunch after. Same time.

Ryan Perfect. Should I bring anything?

Emma Just drinks, maybe. I'll bring sandwiches. And text me when you leave home, okay?

Ryan Deal. See you Saturday — rain or shine.

Your task

Plan a day with a friend out loud: suggest an activity with 'How about…?', react to two changes (weather, time), agree a plan B, and close with a concrete detail (place + time). Then record the whole plan as a voice message: 'Hi! So Saturday we…'
