Stop saying: “People in this town is very friendly.”

Say instead: “People in this town are very friendly.” · A2 · Grammar

✗ Wrong

People in this town is very friendly.

✓ Correct

People in this town are very friendly.

Why?

People is the plural of person, so it takes plural verbs: people are, people have, people were. One person is, but two or more people are. The same pattern works for children and men.
