Question 1

Some people believe tablets and laptops should replace printed textbooks in all classrooms. What do you think?

Useful phrases: I mostly agree, because... ยท More importantly, ... ยท On balance, ...

Model answer โ€” open AFTER recording yourself

I mostly agree, because digital books solve several practical problems at once. First, they're much lighter, so students don't carry heavy bags. More importantly, digital texts can be updated instantly and include videos or interactive exercises. However, I wouldn't remove printed books completely, since some students concentrate better on paper. On balance, though, digital textbooks should become the main option in most classrooms.

Question 2

Would you rather take notes on a laptop or by hand? Why?

Useful phrases: I definitely prefer... ยท The reason is simple: ... ยท In the long run, ...

Model answer โ€” open AFTER recording yourself

I definitely prefer taking notes by hand, even though typing is faster. The reason is simple: when I write by hand, I have to summarize ideas in my own words, and that process helps me understand them. With a laptop, I tend to copy the teacher word for word without really thinking. So, for me, slower notes actually lead to better learning in the long run.

Question 3

Why do you think online videos have become such a popular way to learn new skills?

Useful phrases: There are two main reasons. ยท First of all, ... ยท Put simply, ...

Model answer โ€” open AFTER recording yourself

I think there are two main reasons. First of all, videos show you exactly what to do, step by step, which is much clearer than written instructions for practical skills like cooking or repairing a bike. Second, learners can pause, rewind, and watch at their own speed, at any time of day. Put simply, videos combine the clarity of a demonstration with total flexibility.

Problem-Solution

Question 4

Some teachers worry that students use artificial intelligence tools to do their homework instead of learning. How should schools respond to this?

Useful phrases: In my opinion, schools should... ยท For instance, ... ยท At the same time, ...

Model answer โ€” open AFTER recording yourself

In my opinion, schools should teach students to use these tools responsibly rather than simply banning them. For instance, teachers can design assignments that require personal opinions, class discussions, or local examples that a computer cannot invent. At the same time, students should learn to check AI answers critically, because the tools sometimes make confident mistakes. Used wisely, this technology can support learning instead of replacing it.

๐ŸŽ™ Practice recorder

Record your answer, play it back, and compare it with the model. Recordings stay in your browser โ€” nothing is uploaded.

Self-evaluation checklist (after each recording)

This checklist is a self-study tool. It is NOT an official TOEFL score and no browser tool can give one โ€” use it to find the one thing to fix next time.
