Interview: Daily Routines
Four questions, one theme. For each: hear the question, answer in ~45 seconds using the recorder below, then compare with the model and run the checklist.
Question 1
Describe your typical daily routine. How do you usually spend your day?
Useful phrases: On a typical day, ... ยท Sets the tone for everything ยท Keeps the whole routine sustainable
Model answer โ open AFTER recording yourself
On a typical day, I wake up around six-thirty and start with a short walk and breakfast, because a calm morning sets the tone for everything. Then I study or attend classes until early afternoon, with short breaks between sessions. Evenings are for lighter work, exercise, and time with family. I try to stop working by ten, since protecting my sleep keeps the whole routine sustainable.
Question 2
Some people believe a strict daily routine makes life boring. What do you think?
Useful phrases: It actually creates freedom ยท For instance, ... ยท It can live inside a routine
Model answer โ open AFTER recording yourself
I think a routine only becomes boring when it controls you completely; otherwise, it actually creates freedom. When basic tasks are automatic, your mind is free for interesting things instead of small daily decisions. My routine, for instance, guarantees time for study and exercise, which leaves my free hours truly free. Variety matters, of course, but it can live inside a routine quite comfortably.
Question 3
Are you more productive in the morning or in the evening? How do the two parts of the day differ for you?
Useful phrases: Definitely more productive in the morning ยท Before noon whenever possible ยท Knowing this rhythm has...
Model answer โ open AFTER recording yourself
I'm definitely more productive in the morning, because my concentration is strongest before the day's distractions accumulate. I schedule my hardest tasks, like writing and problem-solving, before noon whenever possible. Evenings are different: my thinking becomes slower but more relaxed, so I use them for reviewing, planning the next day, and creative tasks. Knowing this rhythm has genuinely improved how I organize my work.
Question 4
Many people feel there are not enough hours in the day to finish everything. What can they do to manage their time better?
Useful phrases: The most effective step is... ยท Where time leaks away ยท On what matters most first
Model answer โ open AFTER recording yourself
I believe the most effective step is deciding the next day's top three priorities the night before. Without priorities, urgent but unimportant tasks consume the whole day. People should also notice where time leaks away, usually the phone, and set specific times for messages. Honestly, nobody gains more hours; successful people simply spend the same hours on what matters most first.
Record your answer, play it back, and compare it with the model. Recordings stay in your browser โ nothing is uploaded.
Self-evaluation checklist (after each recording)
This checklist is a self-study tool. It is NOT an official TOEFL score and no browser tool can give one โ use it to find the one thing to fix next time.
