Step 36: Travel Plans

Trips — Future forms review; holiday vocabulary

📖 Read — The Millers' Road Trip

The Miller family is planning a road trip! “We're leaving on Friday at six in the morning,” says Dad. “We're driving to Nashville first. We're going to visit the music museum, and we're going to eat at Grandma Rose's house on Saturday.”

Mom is packing the suitcases. “I think it'll be sunny in Nashville,” she says. “But I'll take a jacket, too.” Ethan is excited. “This is going to be the best trip!” Dad laughs. “Okay, team — let's hit the road!”

🧩 Grammar — Future Review — Three Ways to Talk About Trips

Three future forms, three jobs: present continuous for fixed arrangements with a time (tickets, plans in the diary): We're leaving on Friday at six. Going to for intentions and plans: We're going to visit the museum. Will for predictions and hopes: I think it'll be sunny.

arrangement (+ time) → am/is/are + -ing · intention → going to · prediction → will
  • We're leaving on Friday at six.
  • We're going to visit Grandma Rose.
  • I think it'll be sunny.
  • The train is arriving at nine tonight.
