Step 31: Just, Already, Yet

Recent actions — Present perfect adverbs

📖 Read — A Busy Morning at the Millers'

It's Saturday morning at the Miller house. Mrs. Miller is checking everyone's jobs. “Ethan, have you cleaned your room yet?” — “I've just finished it, Mom! And I've already made my bed.”

Lily has just finished breakfast. “Have you packed your bag yet, Lily?” — “Not yet. But Dad has already left for the store.” Mrs. Miller smiles. “Great! We haven't locked the door yet, so hurry up — the bus is coming!”

🧩 Grammar — Just, Already, Yet (with the Present Perfect)

Use just for something finished a very short time ago: I've just finished. Use already when something is done before now (often earlier than expected): I've already made my bed. Use yet in questions and negative sentences, at the END: Have you finished yet? I haven't finished yet. Just and already go between have/has and the participle.

have/has + just / already + participle · …yet? / haven't … yet
  • I've just finished my homework.
  • She has already left.
  • Have you packed yet?
