Step 29: Shopping Day

In the shops — Prices; too and enough (first steps)

📖 Read — Sophia Goes Shopping

Sophia and Emma are shopping in downtown Chicago. Sophia wants a dress for her cousin's wedding. She finds a beautiful red dress, but she looks at the price. “Ninety dollars! It's too expensive,” she says.

Emma finds a blue dress on sale. “This one is only forty dollars. Try it on!” Sophia tries it. “Hmm, it's not big enough.” Then the cashier brings a bigger size. It fits perfectly! “And the price is good,” Sophia smiles. “It's a good deal!”

🧩 Grammar — Too and Enough + Prices

Use too + adjective when something is more than you want: too expensive, too small. Use adjective + enough when it is OK: big enough, cheap enough. Not OK? Say not + adjective + enough: It isn't big enough. Remember: enough goes AFTER the adjective, too goes BEFORE it. Ask prices with How much is it? / How much are they?
