Stop saying: “She said me that she was tired.”

Say instead: “She told me that she was tired.” · B1 · Word Choice

✗ Wrong

She said me that she was tired.

✓ Correct

She told me that she was tired.

Why?

Tell usually needs a person after it: tell me, tell us, tell Tom. Say does not take a person directly; use say something, or say something to someone. A quick test: if a person follows the verb, choose tell.
